In 1936, Drewerys Limited Co. purchased the Muessel Brewing Co. which had been in continuous operation since 1852. In 1972, Drewrys was sold to the G. Heileman Brewing Company of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. At that time the brewery was permanently closed.
