In 1972, G. Heileman brewery (LaCrosse, WI) bought the brewery in Evansville, Indiana from the Sterling Brewers Association.
The brewery was used to make many of the brands G. Heileman acquired from other breweries including Cooks from Evansville, Champagne Velvet from Terre Haute, Drewrys from South Bend and many other brands.
The brewery was closed due to over capacity in its other G. Heileman breweries and was sold in 1988 to the Evansville Brewing Co.
