 Postcard of Krogman Distillery - Tell City, Indiana
The Krogman distillery, established in 1863 at a cost of $5,000 was founded by August Krogman who was born December 28, 1821, in Holstein, Germany. He learned the distilling business in his native land and came to the United States in 1855, working in a brewery in Davenport, Iowa, until 1858, when he moved to Perry County.
He worked for a few years in the coal mines at Cannelton, but settled in 1862 at Tell City, with his wife, Dora Schubert, whom he had married in 1856. He died October 5, 1905. Postcard is in very good condition. Not a reproduction. Minor imperfections. Not mailed and no writing to reverse.
